Sound and light installation created for Portland Museum of Art Biennial. Passenger is a memorial space, long, narrow and dark. Upon entering you are surrounded by the sound of insects in a field, voices (now deceased), a simple banjo picking a jazz standard. The impression of loss, of a passage, is deepened by the presence of a thistle (a symbol of sorrow) glimpsed through a cut paper screen. A beam of light sweeps from behind mimicing the shadows cast by passing headlights.
